About the Job:
The Rehabilitation Director is responsible for the direction, organization, planning, staffing and control of the MMC rehabilitation department, including physical therapy, occupational therapy, and speech therapy. The Rehabilitation Director is responsible to the Vice President of Patient Care Services.
Requirements:
- Must possess, as a minimum, a bachelor’s degree in physical, occupational, or speech therapy from a college or university accredited by their professional organization.
- Must have a minimum of five years experience as a therapist in a hospital setting and a minimum of two years of supervisory or management experience.
- Must maintain an active membership in their National and State professional organization.
- Must possess strong leadership and problem solving skills.
- Must be able to read and comprehend written materials of complex level such as contracts, government regulations, and other agency requirements written in english.
- Must be able to effectively communicate verbally and in writing including the ability to make effective group and public presentations in english.
- Must be able to comprehend and make mathematical computations including addition, subtraction, multiplication and division, and statistical applications.
- Must meet the job qualifications of the staff therapist.
- Ability to relate to employees in all levels of the organization to develop and maintain effective work relationships.
- Ability to learn and use analytical and participating problem solving techniques.
- Ability to relate specific facts in situations to guiding concept/principles/policies and to draw appropriate, consistent conclusions.
- Ability to perform the following sound, ethical social standards, including presentation as a professional role model for department employees and other facility personel.
- Maintains confidentiality.
- Complies with hospital policies and procedures.
- Attends inservice training and other educational programs; serves on committees as required.
- Participates in at least one fire drill/year.
- Attends and participates in department head/management meetings on a regular basis.
- Shares job knowledge/expertise with others.
- Demonstrates good customer service skills.
- Contributes to a positive working environment.
- Ability to provide competent leadership for the department through foresight, planning, and organization.
- Ability to perform under typical stress associated with the management position (e.g. challenging deadlines, conflict situations, unanticipated demands, and interruptions).
