About the Job:
Health Information Records Assistant (A):
The Behavioral Health Services Health Information Records Assistant is responsible for accurately identifying, compiling, and retrieving both hardcopy and electronic patient records; auditing, data collection, and the generation of reports regarding patient record documentation requirements; reviewing open and closed records; organizing records into proper format; notarizing documents as needed; and other tasks as assigned. Records Assistant (A) is primarily responsible for the retrieval and filing of open and closed BHS patient records and tracking patient records. Records Assistant (A) fills in for other Behavioral Health Services Health Information staff and performs and assists with those duties as needed to include the processing of patient record release requests.
Health Information Records Assistant (B):
The Behavioral Health Services Health Information Records Assistant is responsible for accurately identifying, compiling, and retrieving both hardcopy and electronic patient records; auditing, data collection, and the generation of reports regarding patient record documentation requirements; reviewing open and closed records; organizing records into proper format; notarizing documents as needed; and other tasks as assigned. Records Assistant (B) is primarily responsible for the processing of patient record release requests. Records Assistant (B) also fills in for other Behavioral Health Services Health Information staff and performs and assists with those duties as assigned.
Requirements:
- Associate degree in Administrative Assistant program or equivalent training and/or work experience.
- Ability to keyboard at 50-55 wpm.
- Must have excellent spelling, grammatical, punctuation and proofreading skills.
- Demonstrated computer skills including Windows and Microsoft Office applications.
- Ability to use a variety of business office equipment.
- Ability to communicate effectively with Behavioral Health clients and staff both verbally and in writing.
- Demonstrated good organizational skills.
- Ability to work well independently and with others including staff, patients, and outside individuals/agencies. Must be able to problem solve independently.
- Ability to maintain absolute confidentiality of highly sensitive information.
- Ability to adjust to change and frequent interruptions; ability to meet deadlines as required and to work in a fast-paced environment.
- Must have certifications as a WI state notary public or ability to obtain such.
- One year or more of experience in a medical record office or medical office setting is preferred.
Shift Time: 8-, 12- hour shifts
