MMC Expands Women’s Health Services in Ashland

Memorial Medical Center (MMC) is expanding women’s health services in northwest Wisconsin. Gynecology and Obstetric Specialty Services of MMC is now open, providing women of all reproductive ages access to new women’s health services.

Leading the team is Dr. Enrique Africano. Dr. Africano is a Board and Subspecialty Board Certified OB-GYN and Pelvic Reconstructive Surgeon with extensive experience in family planning, medical and surgical management of disorders of the female reproductive tract, female incontinence, abnormalities of pelvic support. Dr. Africano will also provide minimally invasive and robot-assisted gynecologic surgery (MIGS) as well as consult on high-risk obstetric cases.

“Dr. Africano brings extensive knowledge and experience to the region, allowing us to assist women with their health concerns right here in Ashland,” says MMC CEO Jason Douglas. “In addition, Dr. Africano hopes to take a collaborative approach with area primary care providers on high risk obstetric cases, helping fill a void currently in our community.”

Dr. Africano received his doctorate at the Howard University College of Medicine and OB-GYN Specialty training at the Walter Reed Army Medical Center. His Sub-specialty training was at Brigham and Women’s Hospital in Boston, a teaching hospital of Harvard University School of Medicine. In addition to a broad scope of medical and surgical gynecologic services, Dr. Africano has additional training and expertise in the consultative support of high-risk pregnancy.
